Long time Hollywood Stars first baseman and team captain Jack Elliot (Tom Selleck) has left the team to co-star in the upcoming Flip Brothers blockbuster Superman: Genesis.

Selleck, who previously starred in the Brother's 2007 drama Warming Up, will be portraying Sam Lane. Lane is an army general and the father of Evangeline Lilly's Lois Lane. He will play a large role in the film, which is currently shooting in an undisclosed location. Also joining the cast and expanding the Lane family is Emily Rose as Lucy Lane.

On April 8th of this year, Superman himself Eddie Cibrian made an appearance on The Hollywood Pit Presents... and presented a trailer for the film, that showcased him, Bruce Campbell as Jor El, and Jude Law as General Zod. You can watch the episode on FBTV's on demand site here.

Also in the Superman: Genesis cast is Dennis Quaid and Maura Tierney as the Kents, Josh Lucas as Peter Ross, Shawn Ashmore as Jimmy Olsen, Dan Aykroyd as Perry White, along with Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor, and Nikki Cox as Lana Lang. Spacey and Cox have both been awarded with Supporting Actor HTG Awards nominations.

Superman: Genesis is expected to hit theaters in November 2010.

Kevin Smith and Ben Affleck just teamed up this past week with Assassin: A College Tale. And now, this coming Friday (the 26th) will see the two friends teaming up again, courtesy of producer CzarTim and the new studio on the block, Wonder Inc.

That Mother Effin' Liar is a mix of a live stand up comedy performance by writer/producer CzarTim and prerecorded sketches. The stand up was preformed at the Chortle Me Happy Comedy Club in Downtown HTG. Smith is the perfect director for this event film, having recorded and released three An Evening with Kevin Smith DVDs. Evening features the director on stage, shooting the shit about life and answering questions via fan Q&A sessions. Could Mother Effin' Liar be CzarTim's outlit to do the same? Could this be the beginning of a new series of comedy performances? Personally, I'd love to see a live addition in chat (or via video chat maybe?) with player questions and feedback.

Hopefully Smith gets on the stage to shoot some shit with CzarTim. I'm assuming Affleck and co-star Kristen Wiig are just part of the pre-recorded bits. Either way, my butt will be firmly in a seat next Friday. Lets see what That Mother Effin' Liar has to say!

It would appear that Lake Hope Features and Blueothello are "with CoCo". The ex-late night funny man will be co-starring in their Friday release, Assassin: A College Tale.

Conan O'Brien joins an interesting mix of actors, including rising star Kristen Stewart, Nickoloden/Disney teen actors Drake Bell and Slena Gomez, established funny man Seth Green, Mr Indy Zach Galifianakis, and veteran actor (although barely funny) Ben Affleck. The film actually rejoins Affleck with director Kevin Smith, one of the few directors who is able to pull a really good performance from him.

In Assassin, "college freshmen enter a contest to see who can stay awake the longest with the winner getting a huge sum of money." How this relates to the popular "Assassin" college game, I have no idea. In "Assassin", a group of people get a pictures of other students, and must find them on capus and shoot them with a water gun. From thee, they take that person's picture and have to "kill" their target. The game is ripe for a goofy film adaptation, but I'm left wondering if that what we'll see on Friday.

I'm glad to see Kevin Smith getting more HTG films. He won the Best Director Sully last session for his work on the TV series Snobs, but in terms of films, he has only helmed 3 in the past 5 years.

Assassin: A College Tale hits theaters this Friday. It is the debut film from Blueothello.

Jamie Foxx has scored a new role and will be leaving the Hollywood Stars football season. The comedian turned serious actor, who was last seen in 2005's Yoda nominated Aftermath, will be taking the lead in one of the two stories that make up Major Crimes.

The segment, titled "Final Clean Up", was written and produced by Quantum based off an original idea.

"Foxx was my original and only choice to portray Dirty Malone," Quantum told us by phone, "Had he said no, I would have went back to the drawing board and came up with something new."

Jamie Foxx has been busy the past few weeks as the Hollywood Stars' starting quarterback. "I wasn't going to leave the team for just any film." Jamie told us. "I wanted to make sure it was a good role in a project with a twist. I don't think people will see the outcome coming. Plus, to get my full salary for doing a short film, a part of an anthology, that is having my cake and eating too."

Foxx will be replaced as starter, and a replacement backup with be sought. Or maybe a new cheerleader, what ever the GM feels like.

Major Crimes is currently out in theaters.

So far, Max Brooks' Zombie Survival Guide has been adapted twice for HTG audiences, first with a lack luster 2005 film of the same name, then with a short adaptation for HTG: TV's Horror Hour. Now, Lake Hope Features is hoping to relaunch the series with President's Choice: Zombie Survival, in theaters on November 27th with a fresh start.

Quantum, who wrote the later (and much improved) version of the ZSG will be handling the writing duties on the new theater version with John Landis helming the horror flick. This will be Landis' first HTG film. Joining him is Neil Patrick Harris, Christina Applegate, Brian Williams, Craig Robinson, Jorma Taccone, Christine Taylor, and Quantum himself.

Neil Patrick Harris is coming off a great year, with starring roles in Phil Scotto For President, Amateurball, The Cabin the Middle of Nowhere and a voice role in War Dogs. His role in Scotto was nominated for a Best Actor award at the 9th HTG Awards. Christina Applegate comes off a leading role in Kane Files: 10 Digits.

Only time will tell if this "Zombie Guide" will survive. Check it out at the end of November.
