The month of June will be a busy month for HTG town as Lake Hope Features has three films pegged for release.

Originally pegged for a June 11th release, TMNT: Origins has been moved to July 2nd, an expected big box office weekend. The move is said to be caused by animation delays associated with the film. "We're just tweaking the film," Andy Wachowski, a co-director of the film said in a press release, "we want to make sure that the fans love it."

TMNT: Origins stars the voices of Adrien Brody (The Raven), Josh Holloway (TV's The Policeman), James Roday (Jack of All Trades), and Dominic Monaghan (TV's Unfinished Business). It is being directed by The Wachowski Brothers (Godsend Conspirator).

Taking on the June 11th date will be Zombie Madness, which was originally scheduled for June 18th, is the feature debut of producer Someonesomeone. The change comes on the heels of an earlier then expected finish with production. "Everybody worked there asses off to get this film done," said star Ashton Kutcher "It was a lot of fun, and we hope that people don't take it too seriously because it's just a fun ride of a movie." Zombie Madness stars Ashton Kutcher (Silver & Black), Freddie Prinze Jr (Pulse), LL Cool J (Sparks), and Brad Garrett, in his HTG debut. It is being directed by Harold Ramis (TIVO).

The June 18th date that was to be occupied by Zombie Madness will now be occupied by In Wonderfalls, the newest film from Exavior (The Wood: Remember Those Times). The film is set within the world of the TV series Wonderfalls. It was originally scheduled for a June 25th release. "It's a nice change of pace film," said star Bill Cosby "It's short and sweet and its got me playing mean."

In Wonderfalls stars Bill Cosby (HTG debut) and Erica Durance (TV's The Nobodys). It is being directed by Ron Howard (Magi).

And finally, taking on the June 25th date vacated by In Wonderfalls will be Safron's newest feature Rookie Mistake. "It's a change of pace for me," said star Kevin Spacey "I usually play weaker guys, but here I'm an assassin, and to put it blatantly, it's awesome."

Rookie Mistake stars Kevin Spacey (Superman: The Man of Tomorrow), Chad Michael Murray (Walking on Asphalt), Giovanni Ribsi (Mafia), and Matt Gerald (TV's T.G.). The film is being directed by Dito Montiel (HTG debut).

So, to recap it (in order of what's coming out the soonest)...

-Zombie Madness comes out June 11th.
-In Wonderfalls comes out June 18th.
-Rookie Mistake comes out June 25th.
-TMNT: Origins comes out July 2nd.

This Friday will see Francis Ford Coppola's first film since 2007's My Life In Detroit. Teaming up with producer Romeitaliano and Lake Hope Features, Coppola has helmed the war drama Regrets in Tiber. The film stars Michael Imperioli and Monica Bellucci as Carlo and Claudia Boni, with Carla Gugino as Miriam, Joe Mantegna as Officer Rizzoli and narration by Eli Wallach.

Imperioli has had a very health HTG career, headlining films in both of the last two years, 2009's Mafia and 2008's Pizza Tycoon. He earned a Best Actor nomination at the Seventh HTG Awards for his role in Tycoon. Bellucci co-starred with Imperioli in Pizza Tycoon and worked with Coppola in 2006's Tre Sebati. This is her seventh HTG film credit.

The film is set in 1940, while Europe is at the brink of World War II. Carlo is a Jewish-Italian man who works at a book company in Italy, as they are brought into the conflict of war.

The film opens against Wonder Inc's Mr. Sandman Calling, and Miracle Picture's Survivor.

We just got this new teaser poster from the Flip Brothers Studio!

What the heck is Fortune City? Who is the Black Rose? Well, that would be a new western from the mind of Trax and with the direction of Lawrence Kasdan. Trax will be returning to theaters after a long hiatus the week before with City of Knowledge from Miracle Pictures. Lasdan hasn't had a film in theaters since 2005's The Film Protectors.

The film has a spectular cast, with Edward Norton, Susan Sarandon, Eliza Dushku, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ed Asner, Thomas Haden Church, and Josh Brolin. Dushku will be portraying the "Black Rose", as seen in the image above. Who is that? What is the film about? Only time will tell, stay tuned for ads for the new film project on the message board! It hits theaters in the second week of March.

Lake Hope Features have just announced that they are collaborating with Kevin Smith (HTG:TV's Snobs!) and novice producer Blueothello to bring us Assassin: A College Tale. The comedy has tapped an interesting cast, including Kristen Stewart, Vincent Martella, Drake Bell, Ben Affleck, Zach Galifianakis, Seth Green, Selena Gomez, Khelo Thomas, and fresh off his run on The Tonight Show, Conan O'Brien. The film's premise is as follows: "College freshmen enter a contest to see who can stay awake the longest with the winner getting a huge sum of money."

This film announcement comes right off the heals of Lake Hope Features pushing multiple films back a couple months, including the antipicated action sequel Detention: Ballistophobia, which co-stars Cuba Gooding Jr (Gunz: Lost Salvation) and Christan Slater (Boomsday, Collins' Comet: Descent).

There are currently three other films scheduled for release in February, including a romance from the Flip Brothers, A Story About Life, MacGuffin, which we just posted about, and Horror City, a mysterious horror film from the Brothers Flip. Horror City is said to be an epic horror film, and might have to be pushed to summer to finish it. Only time will tell.

It is that time of the year again...

The 10th HTG Awards are here, celebrating the films released in the 2nd half of 2009. We're not going to look at every category, but we will be taking a look at some of the more important ones. A small disclaimer; The lists I write are just my humble opinion. I have not ready every film in theaters, and I am the studio head of Flip Brothers Studio. Everyone is welcome to write and submit their lists to the Hollywood Times. The more the merrier!

The past half a year, we've had 34 releases, with 22 of those being short films. When I usually nominate films for Best Picture, I look among the features first, then the shorts. I do this mostly because of the Best Short Film category. Every now and than there is a real stand out short that gets added right on to my Best Picture list.

For now (in no particular order), here is who I'm looking at for Best Picture. This is not my final nomination list, it is just the films that are jumping out at me.
Batman: Season of the Witch
Out of the Dark
Scream Bloody Murder
A Short Protest
The Dreamer

Who is on your short list? Submit an article or comment on this one!

For the past few months we have held a poll to see who is HTG's favorite "Top Talent". We polled people with the option of choosing one of the top three (TS wise) directors, actors, or actresses. Included in the list were Tom Hanks, Harrison Ford, and Tom Cruise from the actors side, Julia Roberts, Kate Heckinsale, and Kate Hudson from the actresses, and James Cameron, Steven Spielberg, and Tim Burton from the directors.

How did everyone score? Well, in last place was a three way tie between Julia Roberts, James Cameron and Kate Hudson. Tied for second to last were the Toms, Hanks and Cruise. Narrowly ahead of them in the polling was Harrison Ford, which rounds out the actors. Tied for second place are our last two directors, Spielberg and Burton, with 21% of the vote each. And in first place, with 28% of the vote, the Star Wars and Los Angeles beauty, Kate Beckinsale.

Don't forget to vote in our two current polls (located on the left hand side of the page)!

The official soundtrack for Emerald Pictures "The Dreamer" isn't set to release until Tuesday, but was leaked onto the internet today by an unknown source.

When contacted, Four Tops' studio head Elmer confirmed that this in fact was the official soundtrack. He said that these songs are not in the film itself, and that this is more of a "Inspired by..." CD.

Last night in the HTG:TV themed Trivia Night, a few franchises changed hands during the game and then others afterward. Along with questions about TV, the Trivia Night brought a new Franchise themed game into the mix. In the game, players were asked to choose an available franchise of a certain price, and than a letter was called out. If your franchise matched the letter, you won it. If no franchises matched the letter, then the letters would count down until there was a match.

Best New Producer winner CzarTim of But Atlas Pictures won every single round of the franchise game. He took home the rights to Gridiron by Philip Kerr, the video game MotorStorm, and the acclaimed TV series The Wire. Gridiron was adapted earlier this year for the big screen by MasterPlan Productions and Ship of Fooles Studio. CzarTim stated that he accidentally won Gridiron and was expecting to dump the rights. This would mark the second time in the past year that the property has been dumped. The film, which was directed by Jonathan Demme, grossed nearly 200 million dollars worldwide. If you ask me, it could be ripe for a TV adaptation. CzarTim has put MotorStorm in very early development, but has no plans anytime soon to use The Wire.

Lucian, the host of the Trivia Night ended up winning his own franchise after the room voted that he should get a casino spin as a thank you for hosting the event. What did he take home? None other than the OCD detective, Monk. Lucian was pleased with the win and said that he would try to do the series justice down the line. This comes at a great time, as the series is winding down with its last few episodes. Lucian could bring it to theaters with his studio Ship of Fooles or to TV with his network Rogue Net.

Last but not least, after the event Lucian and Elmer (aka Emerald Pictures) began chatting about the 1968 novel A Wizard of Earthsea. Lucian's rogue Net owned the rights and Elmer was very interested in picking them up for his arthouse studio, Four Tops. Wizard is the "first of a series of books written by Ursula K. Le Guin and set in the fantasy world archipelago of Earthsea depicting the adventures of a budding young wizard named Ged." While the final price is unknown, it is expected that the young studio paid between 5 and 10 million dollars for the exclusive rights to the novel. They are expected to adapt the material into a film series.
