Kevin Smith and Ben Affleck just teamed up this past week with Assassin: A College Tale. And now, this coming Friday (the 26th) will see the two friends teaming up again, courtesy of producer CzarTim and the new studio on the block, Wonder Inc.

That Mother Effin' Liar is a mix of a live stand up comedy performance by writer/producer CzarTim and prerecorded sketches. The stand up was preformed at the Chortle Me Happy Comedy Club in Downtown HTG. Smith is the perfect director for this event film, having recorded and released three An Evening with Kevin Smith DVDs. Evening features the director on stage, shooting the shit about life and answering questions via fan Q&A sessions. Could Mother Effin' Liar be CzarTim's outlit to do the same? Could this be the beginning of a new series of comedy performances? Personally, I'd love to see a live addition in chat (or via video chat maybe?) with player questions and feedback.

Hopefully Smith gets on the stage to shoot some shit with CzarTim. I'm assuming Affleck and co-star Kristen Wiig are just part of the pre-recorded bits. Either way, my butt will be firmly in a seat next Friday. Lets see what That Mother Effin' Liar has to say!

Wonder Inc, the new kids in town have put down 50 million dollars for a 3 month lease for the House, M.D. franchise, based on the popular FOX television show. Their first move with the franchise? Going to war with Omar Little from The Wire. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you should head on over to the MB.

Being the newest Journalist on the block, I decided to start this off by giving The Chad (HTG's newest Producer) a bit of an interrogation.

Blue: What is your new film about?

Chad: The film I am currently writing is called Reality Struck. The main character in the movie has been diagnosed with narcolepsy, which causes him to confuse what is real and what is just a dream. It is a risky move to use this movie as my first release. It is a difficult story to write. But, it should keep the viewer guessing from the beginning, and that's what I really want to do with this film.

Blue: Are you interested in writing any Television Series?

Chad: I haven't thought about it yet. But I've recently been a fan of forensics and crime shows: CSI, Criminal Minds, The Closer. So, if I would to write one, it may be similar to those.

Blue: What future films do you have in planning or see yourself pitching.

Chad: After this current film, I already have another film ready for production. The title is TBA, however the plot is basically this: Two teens try to connect 3 missing persons cases to a local urban legend.

Blue: What Television Shows are you looking forward to this session?

Chad: I haven't really seen many of the shows here yet. But I also like wrestling, so I'll probably catch some TCW.

Blue: What actors do you have your eyes on?

Chad: I haven't decided on any one actor or actress, but for the film coming up, I will be looking at those who can play a character in their late 20s to early 30s.

There you have it Hipsters and Shysters of HTG. Will Chad's new film be picked up by a Studio? Hopefully so. Blueothello signing out.

It would appear that Lake Hope Features and Blueothello are "with CoCo". The ex-late night funny man will be co-starring in their Friday release, Assassin: A College Tale.

Conan O'Brien joins an interesting mix of actors, including rising star Kristen Stewart, Nickoloden/Disney teen actors Drake Bell and Slena Gomez, established funny man Seth Green, Mr Indy Zach Galifianakis, and veteran actor (although barely funny) Ben Affleck. The film actually rejoins Affleck with director Kevin Smith, one of the few directors who is able to pull a really good performance from him.

In Assassin, "college freshmen enter a contest to see who can stay awake the longest with the winner getting a huge sum of money." How this relates to the popular "Assassin" college game, I have no idea. In "Assassin", a group of people get a pictures of other students, and must find them on capus and shoot them with a water gun. From thee, they take that person's picture and have to "kill" their target. The game is ripe for a goofy film adaptation, but I'm left wondering if that what we'll see on Friday.

I'm glad to see Kevin Smith getting more HTG films. He won the Best Director Sully last session for his work on the TV series Snobs, but in terms of films, he has only helmed 3 in the past 5 years.

Assassin: A College Tale hits theaters this Friday. It is the debut film from Blueothello.

As you can see, we've started doing a bit of remodeling at the site. A new logo, a new look, but the same great news.

General News

Lake Hope Features have just announced that they are collaborating with Kevin Smith (HTG:TV's Snobs!) and novice producer Blueothello to bring us Assassin: A College Tale. The comedy has tapped an interesting cast, including Kristen Stewart, Vincent Martella, Drake Bell, Ben Affleck, Zach Galifianakis, Seth Green, Selena Gomez, Khelo Thomas, and fresh off his run on The Tonight Show, Conan O'Brien. The film's premise is as follows: "College freshmen enter a contest to see who can stay awake the longest with the winner getting a huge sum of money."

This film announcement comes right off the heals of Lake Hope Features pushing multiple films back a couple months, including the antipicated action sequel Detention: Ballistophobia, which co-stars Cuba Gooding Jr (Gunz: Lost Salvation) and Christan Slater (Boomsday, Collins' Comet: Descent).

There are currently three other films scheduled for release in February, including a romance from the Flip Brothers, A Story About Life, MacGuffin, which we just posted about, and Horror City, a mysterious horror film from the Brothers Flip. Horror City is said to be an epic horror film, and might have to be pushed to summer to finish it. Only time will tell.

Casting News

Justin Hartley from HTG:TV's Badge of Justice: Las Vegas and On Set has nabbed the lead role in 21st Century Cat Picture's new short comedy, Boytoy Beta. The film is from writer/producer/studio head Kris Greet, who released a short arthouse drama, Walking on Asphalt, earlier in the month. Co-starring in the comedy is Ashlee Simpson in her HTG debut. A studio source tell us that the two lesser known talents are thrilled to be part of the new production. Hartley has had guest spots on numerous TV shows, including Downtown, It's Always Me, and The Day After. Directing the piece is Todd Philips, who last helmed the 2008 geek kidnapping comedy Star Con for the Flip Brothers Studio. Boytoy Beta hits theaters this Friday, January 29th.

Coming in three weeks from Checkmate Pictures is MacGuffin. The drama is being written and produced by Quantum of Raptor Inc and directed by Spike Jonze. This is Jonze's forth film, having last directed Running With Scissors, an anthology of short films based on the music of Weird Al Yankovic. Starring in the film is Goldie Hawn, Dan Byrd, Quantum, David Caruso, and Willow Smith. MacGuffin will mark the HTG debuts of Hawn, Caruso, and Smith. Byrd is coming off feature roles in Fear Itself 2 last year and 2008's Battle Royale. He has also appeared on HTG: TV in Ritchie Steven's Horror Hour and Kaven Production's TV Movie Carnage. Quantum has an impressive 17 film role credits to his name along with 3 TV appearances. MacGuffin hits theaters on February 12th, 2010.

DRTV and Laughing Dead (Now With Zinc) Productions are proud to announce that production on the new TV series The Suicide Hand Guide, from rookie producer Blueothello, has begun.

The series follows Dylan, a college student with a lot on his plate. Contemplating suicide, he places a razor over his wrist and is about to coward out when his roommate bursts into his room, this startles him, and he cuts his wrist. Now, he's trapped in a world run by The Gamekeeper, a world where the people play a game. A game that changes with each round. A game where the rules are never the same. Now, Dylan must navigate his way through this world as he tries to prevent his death a second time, a death which will send him to an eternity of his own personal hell.

The Suicide Hand Guide will star Liam Aiken as Dylan; Vanessa Hudgens as Erika, a girl in a rock band who kills herself over the pressure of fame; and Derek Luke as Dean, a trucker who killed himself because of the Mafia's threats towards him and his family.

More cast members will be announced in the coming weeks. The Suicide Hand Guide will premiere during Session 8 only on DRTV.
